Custom Mineral Makeup, Chap Stick and More. We Love Coconut Oil.
Coconut oil is becoming popular everywhere! It has been a popular addition to beauty products for its pleasing fragrance and moisturizing abilities. Have you ever thought that something that is an ingredient in your favorite beauty products might work as well without all the added chemicals? This is how I felt after constantly picking up products with coconut oil in them. One thing to know about ingredients in anything is that the ingredient written first is what is in most of the product or food, if you see “fragrance” as a top ingredient on something you are going to buy keep in mind it is going to be drying and full of chemicals.
Like most natural skin care methods, you can eat coconut oil. Please keep in mind that this ingredient is high in saturated fat, though some people also believe it can be very good for you. For some it might be a great ingredient to add to coffee and cooking, please ensure your sources of nutrition information are good for your needs.
We do know that because of the high fat content, coconut oil makes a smooth moisturizer which can be thick and oily. It is not recommended for oily skin but makes a wonderful moisturizer for the body and under the eye. Here is a great way to use coconut oil under the eye for a sheer cover-up.
Coconut oil (organic and if available cold pressed)
Loose powder mineral makeup
Take one jar of coconut oil and put your pinkie into it for just a dab.
Put the dab of oil onto your hand.
Sprinkle the mineral powder onto your hand and rub into the oil with your pinkie.
Do this to desired consistency and then apply to under your eye.
Voila! Custom liquid mineral makeup for under your eyes! This lets the powder smoothly sit on your skin as opposed to settling into wrinkles under your eye.
Do you have dry skin? Your skin absorbs best right after the shower while it is still a little wet. After gently drying your skin with a towel, apply coconut oil generously. It smells great and will keep you moisturized after it dries. In addition to this it even makes a great natural chap stick which tastes and smells delicious! I would not recommend oil on any part of your skin you find oily, and not on the bottom of your feet because it can be slippery. A little coconut oil provides a lot of moisture.
For smoother hair…
If you have time before your shower take a spoonful of coconut oil and put it into your hair (not the roots) and then leave in about an hour. Shampoo the oil out and you might not even need conditioner because your hair will be so soft.
There are many recipes and ways to use coconut oil. Let the aroma create an island treat for your skin, feel free to accessorize with piña colada and hula dancing.SHARE THIS
