March 2013 EcoSalon Film: Hummingbird

hummingbirdJoin us for our free EcoSalon monthly film screening! This month we’re viewing Hummingbird by director Holly Mosher.

Hummingbird is an award-winning documentary about two non-profit organizations in Brazil helping street children and women overcome the cycle of domestic violence. Filmed in Recife, Brazil – a hub for the sex tourism industry – the documentary looks at the individuals who have been victims, lived on the street and overcome the odds through outside assistance and their own determination.

Screening includes free vegan hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Parking is $1 per hour.

Valerie Cooper

Valerie graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in journalism and has years of experience writing for magazines, newspapers and public relations. She completed three years with the Peace Corps in Mozambique, where she taught English and communications at a high school and university. In the fall, she will pursue her master’s degree in communication for development in the UK.
