The Story of Tulip Perfume

Senior GLN Reporter and Blogger David Sebek recently interviewed Victoria England, the CEO, CO and Creator of Tulip Perfume.tulip

While attending Natural Products Expo West 2015, I had the opportunity to speak with Victoria England the CEO, CO, and Creator of Tulip Perfumea company located in the remote coastal town of Arcata in Humboldt County, Ca. Tulip Perfume aligns itself with a philosophy and belief in the holistic approach to thinking and living. “I set out to design and create a handcrafted line of bath and body products that would encourage a strong connection with nature as a vital part of life,” Victoria explained.

In our interview, I asked Victoria about the genesis of her company. “It was just eight years ago — that is when Tulip began,” she shared with me. In the early days, I learned, it was primarily a home-based concept. She mentioned that  in her garage and basement she “began experimenting with different fragrances that [she] liked, and the plants from which they were derived. That is when [she] learned to become an alchemist and mixologist.”

The scent of the perfume, at least to me, is beautiful; not too rich, yet it is lightly intoxicating, inducing a state of calm inside. It seems to encapsulate all of GLN in this one bottle. Tulip Perfume, like GLN, is founded on principles of returning to our natural state of being and our most authentic, natural selves.

I learned that Victoria studied Natural Medicine and worked for an acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine before starting Tulip. As she shares more of her story, she is excited to tell me that she has established a business relationship with Target.com.  “I met them here at the 2014 Expo West,” Victoria says this with a glimmer of pride in her eyes.

Victoria, however, shared her connection to nature in Humboldt County. “You can’t believe the enormity of these Redwood Trees. It is indescribable — the beauty of growing up around such an intense array of nature. It was easy to be inspired,” she shared with pride.

The entire line of Tulip products are without dyes and parabens. The Tulip line is also vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free.

If we’re lucky, Victoria just might share her talent for writing with GLN, too!
